[JPS] The 100th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Pharmacological Society

The 100th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Pharmacological Society will be held over three days, from March 18 to 20, 2027, at Makuhari Messe. We are pleased to welcome you to this special occasion.

Since its establishment in 1927, the Japanese Pharmacological Society has contributed to the advancement of pharmacology through a broad spectrum of research, ranging from basic science to clinical applications. This meeting marks a major milestone, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Society.

The theme of this meeting is “100 Years of Pharmacology—Toward a Future as the Science of Regulating Life.” Pharmacology studies the interactions between molecules and living systems. It aims to elucidate the mechanisms that regulate life across multiple levels, from molecular interactions to cellular and tissue responses, and ultimately to physiological functions and pathological conditions in the whole organism. These insights form the foundation of drug discovery and medical practice and have driven the progress of the life sciences.

Over the past century, pharmacology has advanced through its mission to understand life, regulate it, shape the future. On this important occasion, through commemorative programs and symposia, we aim to share the history and cutting-edge achievements of pharmacology and to foster open discussion among participants, from experienced researchers to students.

We sincerely hope that dialogue across generations—among pioneers who have shaped the field, researchers leading it today, and the young scientists who will lead it into the future—will mark the beginning of a new century of pharmacology. We very much look forward to your participation.

[JPS] Journal of Pharmacological Sciences

Journal of Pharmacological Sciences (JPS), an official journal of the Japanese Pharmacological Society, is an international open access journal intended for the advancement of pharmacological sciences in the world. The journal welcomes submissions in all fields of experimental and clinical pharmacology, including molecular, cellular, biochemical, physiological and behavioral pharmacology, for publication as "Reviews", "Full Papers" or "Short communications". Review articles are only accepted if they are requested by the editors. Short communications will only be accepted for papers that present novel and highly exciting pharmacological findings. Manuscripts concerning descriptive case reports, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies without pharmacological mechanisms and dose-response determinations are not acceptable and will be rejected without peer review. Ethnopharmacological studies are also out of the scope of this journal. Furthermore, JPS does not publish work on the actions of biological extracts unknown chemical composition.

Dr. Kevin Pfleger will be visiting Japan as part of a lecturer exchange program between the Japanese Pharmacological Society (JPS) and the Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists (ASCEPT).

He will give a talk at the JPS-ASCEPT Lecture on March 19th, the third day of APPW2025 (Anatomy-Physiology-Pharmacology Week in 2025) from 9:30am (JST).

“Professor Rebekah Moles: Sydney Pharmacy School, The University of Sydney”

We are pleased to announce that Professor Rebekah Moles from the Sydney Pharmacy School, The University of Sydney, will be a keynote speaker at the ASCEPT, APFP & APSA 2024 Joint Congress.

Rebekah’s research focuses on medication safety, particularly for vulnerable populations and she is currently leading a large MRFF funded, trial in osteoporosis and falls reduction.

She is passionate about the pharmacy profession and building the next generation of pharmacists including pharmacist researchers and teachers.

Join us for the upcoming Student Symposium, bringing together students and scientists with a shared interest in the distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs (pharmacokinetics), the relationship between drug concentrations and effects (pharmacodynamics), pharmacology, and/or, the application of population modelling and simulation techniques in the experimental, clinical and regulatory settings of drug development and dose optimisation. If your research aligns with any of these, we would like to invite you to submit an abstract.

Dear Honorable Delegates:

On behalf of the Pharmacological Society in Taiwan, I cordially welcome all of the participants to the 14th Asia Pacific Federation of Pharmacologists (APFP) held in Taipei.

After genome sequencing was applied in medical practice, therapeutic treatments entered an era of precision medicine which takes into account of individual variability in genes, environment, and lifestyle for each person. It predicts the treatment are effective in a group of patients more accurately.

The main theme of APFP 2021 is“Pharmacology for Precision Medicine”. As such, we organize symposia including pharmacogenomics, AI/Bioinformatics Pharmacology, Cell Therapy and new drug development presented by renowned experts from our neighboring national societies and worldwide. We are also privileged to have Professors Tasuku Honjo from Kyoto, Chi-Huey Wong from Taipei, and Mien-Chie Hung from Taichung as our plenary lectures. Certainly, your attendance will help enrich the discussion and exchanges of novel scientific findings.
